      GoogleMe :

He boxed alot more and was less aggressive against Selimov than he has been in recent years which was probably a strategy to force the natural counter puncher Selimov to fight on the front foot. Also had he lost Ukraine's team would have been eliminated from the playoffs and the fight was held in Azerbaijan which has a substantial history of corruption so perhaps he was playing it a little safe to ensure the victory.

Here is another WSB fight and his more typical aggressive manner of fighting the last few years.

Padding your record with severely overmatched tomato cans isn't productive although there are certainly people who share your opinion im just not one of them especially for a elite amateur like Lomachenko. The guys is a 2x World and Olympic Champion if he isn't confident in his own ability now he never will be but fortunately he is and wants to be challenged.

Calm down, he is turning pro after this tournament. He stayed with him team for the tournament as well, inspire mates and be with his friends. After all, better competition, 5 rounds fights. After he turns pro, he should have better level fighters for 6 round fights.

Why are so many amateurs waiting so long to turn pro these days? 25-30 is becoming pretty normal. It's crazy. They have 10 fights and are already 30 years old and past their physical prime.

I'm still not sold on Vasyl as a pro. He has skill, and can translate, but as it stands right now, I think he'd get caught coming inside and KTFO. Or there is a big chance that could happen. Southpaws with his style ie the Tyson peekaboo style are so prone to getting KTFO with straight right hands. He has no right hand to speak of, apart from right hook to the body, thus he has no jab and you need a good jab in the pros. A weak, flicky, pawing jab gets you countered. The way he leaps in and charges could spell disaster against a good right handed puncher.

Looking forward to seeing what he can do though. Hopefully he irons out some of those amateur flaws he still has. I'm glad he's not waiting any longer though. 26 by the time he turns pro already! Most great fighters have been champions for years by 26 or certainly in the peak of their pro careers.

The title should read "Lomachenko beats Selimov for the second time and wins their series 2-1 to prove mastery over the only boxer to beat him in over 350 fights". But it's a Russian author so what do you expect.

Team as in trainers? His Father has always been his trainer and he's done a phenominal job with him and a couple other terrific boxers in Ukraine. Hiring a Freddie Roach or Buddy McGirt or someone would be the worst possible thing he could do. He's as complete a boxer as anyone you'll find in the sport.

you're talking about an amateur who just had a hard fight with another amateur. surely you can't believe that. if that were really the case i'd expect him to jump to the pros at the world championship level and win. if he could do that his handlers would go that rout. it's a no brainer. if he were to become a star in europe or the states he would make millions, and generate millions more for the people who employ him. that will never happen. when he turns pro he'll do it the right way, slowly. in a few years, probably in as few as 10 or 15 fights, they'll start to really step up.

it makes me pretty sick, to be honest. now, to be fair, with this "modern athlete" stuff, these guys are staying near top form later in life than they used to. it's still a shame to see an athlete waste his 20's, which will always be a man's peak, without getting paid.

Keep in mind that this article "Vasyl Lomachenko Barely Gets Past Albert Selimov" written by Alexey Sukachev, journalist with low credibility and well known Lomachenko hater. Back in 2011 he called Lomachenko's win against Ramirez "controversial".
In this fight with Selimov Lomachenko had an edge in all 5 rounds: 2 were close, 2 with clear advantage and 1 dominant. The judges were biased in Baku, that's why the final scores were 48:47, 48:47, 47:48.
Watch the fight and decide for yourself:

I saw the fight, no way he won 5 rounds. IMO that was close enough to go the other way, with some home cooking

As much as everyone loves Lomachenko (Great Fighter) I would be way more exited if Ursk turnt pro.

The guy is amazing! He is an average size HW (Maybe Hayes size) but boy does he have skills, he seems to hit pretty hard but I am most impressed by the way he puts punches together, it's so fluid for a big guy. If he were to turn pro I could honestly see him ruling the HW division for years if guided and managed correctly.
