  • Comments Thread For: Vasyl Lomachenko Barely Gets Past Albert Selimov

Little, if any, amateur boxers worldwide have been able to stay competitive within the same ring with the best unpaid fighter in the world in Ukrainian superstar Vasyl Lomachenko over the last five or six years. The two-time Olympian (2008 and 2012) and the two-time world (2009 and 2011) champion Lomachenko was so dominant over these years that a capable challenger for him became more of a myth than a reality.

Lomachenko has been so dominant over the years that a match like this was bound to happen eventually.

Still a beast, but Selimov might have his number.

That's the impression I got watching the fight, Selimov is damn good and his style was giving Lomachenko a lot of trouble.

            Great fight though.

Lomachenko clearly won rounds 1,2,4 with 3 and 5 being the only competitive ones. There is no possible way to score it for Selimov in spite of the "split decision". The title should read "Lomachenko beats Selimov for the second time and wins their series 2-1 to prove mastery over the only boxer to beat him in over 350 fights". But it's a Russian author so what do you expect.

Team as in trainers? His Father has always been his trainer and he's done a phenominal job with him and a couple other terrific boxers in Ukraine. Hiring a Freddie Roach or Buddy McGirt or someone would be the worst possible thing he could do. He's as complete a boxer as anyone you'll find in the sport.

He never got exposed. Semilov was ranked number one in the WSB and the 3rd judge was on crack who gave it to him. Everyone else who he faced he has beat cleary and he hardly loses rounds.
