  • Comments Thread For: Andre Ward Eyes Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Showdown

Andre “S.O.G.” Ward was in attendance at the Brandon Rios-Mike Alvarado II bout and was in amazement at the fight both combatants produced. Ward recently underwent shoulder surgery but has been back in the gym for a few weeks now and is looking to get back in the ring soon.

When Ward spoke to BoxingScene he informed that while he’s not chasing any opponent in particular, one name he would like to face next is Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

“I’m in a position where I don’t feel like I got to chase anybody. I’m open to any opportunity that’s the right opportunity. We want the biggest fights and we want a PPV type of situation and I think we’re right around the corner from getting that. But I will throw one name out: [Julio Cesar] Chavez Jr” Ward revealed to BoxingScene.

I hope they fight, knock each other out and then both get busted for PED use.

      How about a 164 CW?

Not interested right now. Let Chavez move up and get a decent win first. Rather see Ward fight Stevenson, if he upsets Dawson, or Groves/Stieglitz.

Poor Ward. He badly needs a fight that will cross him over into the mainstream and become a PPV fighter. My advice would be to keep winning and let everything fall into place but I know its hard being considered #1/#2 pound for pound and fighters like Berto are making more money than you.

He's got to get creative and leave his comfort zone if he wants that high profile fight. The money is at 160 with a Chavez Jr. or Martinez showdown. Give in on the weight and offer the fights at 164 or something.

And get out of Oakland. There's hundreds of thousands of fans around the world that love your skills and abilities and will pay to see you fight. Give them the chance to watch you peform your craft.

He clearly isn't a middleweight since he can't make the weight anymore.

Who do you want Ward to fight?

Chavez weighed over 180 on fight night against maravilla i'd love to see ward put this chump to sleep. To be honest there is no one else ward can make big money against except b-hop who has already said he wont fight andre

                    I really don't think that's gonna happen.
