What point are you trying to make with this article Rold?
I'm just sort of fascinated by the mental aspects of sport sometimes, and the facility religion provides towards that end. Not always sure where I come down on the implications to be frank.
Why would God care who wins a boxing match? Guerrero said God put him in this fight to humble Floyd. If he loses does that mean God put him in this position to get humbled himself? I am glad his wife beat cancer but I think she beat cancer by taking care of her self and taking the proper medication and listening to her doctor's advice. Good for Guerrero for supporting her in her time of need. God helps those who help themselves and I doubt he helps anybody win a boxing match. You are on your own Guerrero.
Actually, I think his wife beat cancer with the help of a bone marrow donor from Germany.
I wonder how much he and his wife thank her publicly, in the way that he thanks his god.
I wonder, too, if the donor even shares his religion, and why she's not being given more credit.
What I don't wonder about, however, is how his wife's cancer story was cynically exploited by HBO.
