I think two examples are Junior Witter who after losing to Zab Judah went on an awesome ko streak and I would have backed him to easily beat Ricky Hatton. But by the time he won the title I think he was past his peak.

And John Mugabi. Who even after losing to Hagler looked awesome in his next bout against Duane Thomas till he caught a thumb in the eye. By the time he won the title I would say he was easily past his best.
