Comments Thread For: Mathebula's Trainer Wants Jhonatan Romero Shot in S.A.

Trainer Nick Durandt wants Jeffrey Mathebula to fight in South Africa when he challenges IBF junior featherweight champion Jhonatan Romero.

Durandt has appealed to promoter Branco Milenkovic to secure a "home" fight for Mathebula.

Mathebula beat Takalani Ndlovu on points at Brakpan last weekend in what was regarded as an eliminator to go after Romero’s title.

Durandt said on Monday he was not afraid to travel to Colombia or anywhere else to get a title shot for Mathebula.

His last fight was for the "REAL" title? Thought it was some type of interim crap. Well, that's good for him I guess.

He says Mathebula suffered from some bad judging but what if Romero the CHAMPION gets screwed? There's no guaranteed for fair judging. Plus Romero needs US air time, screw that. The Santa Cruz fight is probably a better option.

Looks like Santa Cruz is fighting Munoz now.

I'd rather Santa Cruz-Romero though but it's a risky fight.

When did this come about? And risky for who?

Recently, about a week or so ago.

And Romero is a risky fight for Santa Cruz. Romero is tricky, a spoiler and a high risk low reward fight.

Only thing that's in it for him is the title.

Romero turned down the Santa Cruz fight, what a biatch.

That's kinda funny he wants 'his' hometown dec. not the other guys, what about neutral setting.
