ring mag has a pretty bad list up there currently, with young broner pretty damn high up there if memory serves right. i'm not saying he's a bad fighter, but beating antonio demarco doesn't qualify you as the world's fifth best boxer.

The Ring Magazines one is garbage, the criteria is as follows

      1. American?
      2. Fights on HBO?
      3. Is he any good?

      In that order

      american... like pacquiao, perhaps?

look, earl, you're probably trolling, but i'll son you anyway. the best fighters aspire to fight here. other than CW and HW, and the tiny men's divisions in mexico and asia, the best money is here. you fight your way out of the british domestic scene. you don't fight your way out of america.

we have the best trainers, the highest purses, the best sparring, and the deepest talent pool in virutally every division.

tony thompson hit price so hard he was rolling around on the ground like a baby.

I once asked the question... if a tree falls in a forest, and it didn't happen in Da States, did it really happen?

An oak would make the best use of the wild card gym. I saw a horse chestnut tree in a park the other day... but no one in Da States knew who the tree was.

i don't "like" tony thompson, but the fact remains that he might be the least talented american athletes at the top of his game, and he annihilated one of your best prospects.

and on sonning you, the domestic scene sons itself every saturday, when i see how little talent they've got. there are women on american streets who hit harder than that.

read the post again, because it's all the truth. unless you like the CW and HW divisions, or baby sized men, boxing in europe and asia is leagues below the united states.

amir khan's more like a falling stack of books than a robust tree.

I agree with your general point Early, but are you saying you disagree with Ward and JMM being in the top 3? Mayweather I could possibly understand given his activity over the past few years, but given the kind of level Ward and JMM have been operating at lately, it's really hard to debate. On the other hand, I agree with Ring's top 5, but the bottom 5? That's another story. I love Broner, and think he has tremendous prospects, but how can you have him, Pacquiao and Guerrero there but no Mares, Froch, Viloria ETC. It's ludicrous IMO. It's not that I disagree with them being on the list, but when they are on the list and other fighters who are just as if not more deserving of being there aren't, I have to raise my eyebrow just a tad.

No, don't disagree with Ward or JMM.

Broner is the problem as you say, also Floyd too high imo.

Broner is just in there because of his name imo. I mean really, that's it. Maybe in future he'll be there on merit but right now, I don't even know if he'stop 20 tbh.

TBH I am kind of surprised Danny Garcia isn't in there, he's the sort of guy The Ring loves.
