Golden Boy has the best roster hands down. HBO cutting off Golden Boy is dumb. They are missing out on all Golden Boy fighters and all other semi promotions that need Golden Boy. They cut off Mayweather promotion fighters, Cabelo Promotion fighters, and Cotto Promotion fighters.

And they will be missing out on Canelo and Mayweather PPV revenue. It's crazy they would do that. Marquez and Pac are about to retire, and they'll literally have no one to headline big PPV after that.

Hopefully HBO expands it's normal boundaries and can work with S-Land and get some of their Crusierweights to the network
Finally, someone that gets it!.. Thank you for showing me not everyone on these boards is a clueless fanboy.

lol...a basement dweller calling hbo's decision dumb. you idiots should realize that boxing is just a small portion of hbo's programming.

and it's not like their boxing shows all depends on gbp. they got rid of gbp because they can afford to and it won't hurt their business. boxing is not their main course so to speak. they have a lot of other business activities that i think are more profitable than boxing.

if boxing is so profitable for them, they should've been doing it more often than just 2 to 3 times a month.

In the LONG term its a great idea. Build up new talent on CBS on free tv, hopefully plenty of viewers become interested, and then after building a following the fighter moves over to Showtime, and the network picks up some new subscribers...........

Putting boxing on CBS is a good for GBP to get a few lesser named fighters exposure, but it doesn't do much at all to help boost ratings on Showtime and ultimately bring in new subscribers which is the goal if you want to make money. Truthfully CBS can probably draw higher ratings running reruns of the Price is Right then airing a GBP event.

Showtime is pretty much putting all their eggs into the GBP basket with no guarantee they can make back the profit they've invested. Do you know why Showtime gave the green light on the lucrative Mayweather contract and continues to invest whatever money GBP asks for to put on whatever fights they want to put on???... It's called DESPERATION. They did this thinking they would hurt HBO and help get them on an even playing field, but thus far there's no evidence that suggests it's working or that it ever will. Boxing alone will not help Showtime compete with the mighty juggernaut that is HBO.

Still waiting on the source that proves HBO makes so much more money then they invest in Floyd's PPV events.

Mayweather made 95 million in revenue with Cotto. HBO gets a cut out of that. or does HBO work for free now?
