  • Comments Thread For: Rigondeaux's Ex-Trainer Still Wants Answers For Switch

Trainer Jorge Rubio is still looking for answers after getting fired by WBA super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux, who hired Cuban coach Pedro Diaz to train him for the biggest fight of his career, a unification with WBO champion Nonito Donaire on April 13th in New York City. Rubio says he was never given an exact reason for the pink slip and still has no idea what went wrong. Rubio has tried to contract Rigondeaux several times to get an explanation, but the fighter has yet to respond.

If it was Rigo's idea then Rigo should have told him face to face, like a man, why he was changing trainers.

Otherwise I have to think that the people around Rigondeaux are the ones making the decisions for him.

Sounds like Someone's been whispering in the Kid's ear....
Will not bode well for him, Before a Big Fight, if the Vibe
was good, Rigo should act like a Man, and talk to the Cat!!!

Rigo is switching trainers so often because hes so talented that after a few months they cant teach him anything new. I mean if you look at his amateur-career, he propably knows already more about boxing than most trainers do.

Rubio deserves an explanation, shame on Rigo.

There are some things Rigondeaux hasn't shown me, but he seems to have everything down as far as technique, coordination, footwork and body punching goes. It's easy for a fighter with those kind of skills to be discontent with trainers.
