If Boxing Was Still This Way...

Would the state of the heavyweight division be the same?

you mean if HW's were smaller? faster? more aggressive?
all those things would help out
HW's now have skill, but they're too huge to make scintillating fights
and some of them don't even bother to get in good shape
fan of the Klits, but they have no competition
their opponents fight like bitches a lot too

Wouldn't disagree with the corruption or racism obviously because of the time.
What I'm curious about is the drive of today's Heavyweight fighters. It seems like when you hear of the fighters from before, they faught to either die or win and no in between.

When you hear about the aggression of the once greats of the past, I was lucky enough to be the grandson of one of Dempsey's main sparing partners during his career and all I hear is the lack of determination from the current heavys.

Boxing goes through phases, especially in the HW division. Or so I like to hope.

The current era is weak, possibly one of the weakest ever. I think it has nothing to do with how big HW's are, it's more about how fat and unskilled.

After a poor champion like Garnera though we had Baer, then Cinderella Man Braddock, then one of the best ever, Joe Louis.

Did you even watch that fight? There's a **** tonne of clinching and stalling in those older fights.
