Brian Peters my manager was talking to Lou DiBella (Macklin‘s Promoter) last week. They were talking about a clash with Gennady Golovkin for January, but I am finally going to get the operation on my nose so I wouldn’t be ready for that fight.

“I have good momentum out in America now. Things are going well. Lou (Dibella) is in talks with HBO and Golovkin’s people. They want me to fight him in June. He is a great fighter. Him and Sergio Martinez are probably the two toughest fights. They are regarded as the two top middleweights in the world at the moment,” said Macklin.

HBO wanted to make the match up between the man labeled ‘the most avoided fighter in the world’ and Macklin, who once more claimed Andy Lee declined to fight him in the summer, for June.

But with just one round under his belt in the last 15 months Macklin feels he needs a warm up clash before trading leather with fighter who boasts an 88% knock out rate.

I am not going to get in with him in June after only having a round in 15 months so what they are trying to do is make a double header in June with Gennady Golovkin in a world title fight with me on the card. The idea being if both of us win we fight each other at the end of the year.”

it's 3 consecutive HBO dates he's passing on with one excuse after another, with Alcine and $75k the only thing to show for so far. Maybe they're all valid, I dunno, but I don't see enthusiasm. Do you? I'm surprised you didn't complain about Quillin too, he said he'd fight him down the line.

TBH he doesn't sound very confident. If the fight happens I'd dreading it for him a little. At least Rosado projected confidence.
