Comments Thread For: Bradley, Provodnikov News and Notes From Aftermath

Some news and notes about the Timothy Bradley-Ruslan Provodnikov fight and the fallout from event …

    - After his unanimous decision victory over Ruslan Provodnikov, Timothy Bradley admitted to HBO’s Max Kellerman in a post-fight interview that he thought he suffered a concussion because of repeated blows to the head. Dr. Paul Wallace, a California State Athletic Commission physician, advised Boxingscene.com after the fight that Bradley was sent to the hospital for signs of amnesia and not a possible concussion.

During the interview with Kellerman, Bradley did admit that he could not remember certain sequences in the fight.

Both men hurt but Bradley clearly got the worse damage. Hope both men recover.
Hopefully this beating and Diaz can knock some sense into him

After recklessly using the term 'damaged goods' when referring to a previous opponent, he will now get to experience first hand what it actually means.

I doubt Bradley will be the same after this fight. That was a lot of head trauma. He'll have lost something, even if it was just that fraction of a second in reactions. More likely he'll suffer minor complications such as worse memory etc.

I don't wish it on him though, it's just a sad likely truth.

Provodnikov could have had Bradley out of there if he shortened up his shots when trading though. He was hooking and Bradley's flailing arms were actually performing some kind of defensive purpose. Short, straight quick shots up the middle and Bradley would have stood no chance.

Like CharlieG says, I think we'll see Bradley not as sharp in the ring FNO. No way a fighter can take that many heavy shots and remain the same afterwards. Hundreds of examples of that in boxing. When the rematch between he and Prov happens, we will definitely see it.

When you lose 40 pounds in 8 weeks, it's a problem. That's what happened to Ricky and RJJ, it takes away your punch resistance. Bradley normally evades punches and doesn't get rocked too much so it's not like he has been in wars after wars his entire career.

I think he will be fine as long as he stays relatively in shape between fights from now on. I mean People aren't so concerned when a guy like Rios gets his face smashed in fight after fight taking huge punches and he comes right back the next fight to do the same thing.

People are acting like Bradley has a history of being a punching bag in fights, this is just not the case.

No once you go ballooning up in weight close to 30 years old and then take a beating like that, the damage has been done. This is why Floyd Jr stresses staying around fighting weight at 30+ we've even seen it with younger fighter like too Ortiz, he gets tired now at 147 coming down from 170 over and over Canelo will have trouble too in a couple years

I guess, I'll hold my judgement until his next fight. I've seen guys take some vicious beatings and still fight on. Maybe he will have some memory issues or something for a little while but think about all the wars Pac has been in taking brutal shots and he has had a very lengthy, successful career. He has maybe slowed a little bit recently but not enough to make it remotely easy for any elite level guy to beat him. He of course doesn't have the weight fluctuation thing to deal with but think about the amount of punches that man has suffered over his extensive career.

It's not like he has a history of fluctuating in weight like that either. It's all due to the criticism he receives from the Pac fight. He likely ate to cope with the stress instead of taking it out in the gym the healthy way.

                    wtf.... 40 in 8 weeks?
I heard he gained 40... but didn't know he dropped it in 8 weeks.
IMO, still not a reason for him trying to go toe-to-toe with Ruslan.
I want to see him fight again and hope he does so again this year. I hate when he takes these long ass breaks in between fights. He's in his prime and not getting any younger
