This could also potentially mean that Broner could be on the Floyd vs Guererro undercard which would be huge for Showtime.

HBO has about 10 million more subscribers than showtime and it would be 15 million if it wasn't for Homeland. Besides Saul Alvarez most of these Haymon/GBP fighters have no loyal fan bases people just watched them cause they were on HBO(and usually want to see them lose). TR fighters have much more loyal fan bases. TR/HBO/Tecate/TV Azteca are the winner here especially since Showtime will have to deal with Floyd ducking Alvarez for the next couple years

Big big mistake by Hershman, and will likely lead to his dismissal. When you compare the rosters of GBP vs. TR, its a no contest. Sure, he doesnt need to buy EVERY fight, but to publicly say you are going to cut yourself off from the GBP roster is just ignorant. He's basically saying "hey I have no interest in showing Saul Alvarez, or Angulo, or Broner, or K9, or Danny Garcia, or Robert Guerrero, or Khan, or Maidana, or Mares, or Matthysse, or Ortiz, or Quillin, or Santa Cruz, or upcoming guys like Thurman, Jermell Charlo, or Omar Figueroa"

It was never mentioned as a one-time deal. The only reason they went back to HBO was because the PPV didn't reach the critical mass Arum was hoping for with exposure on CBS. They didn't go back to HBO 'out of loyalty.'

That's easily usurped by the money they make off his fights. They're not losing money by any means.

Exactly.. HBO's overall programming is ahead of Showtime's by leaps and bounds. Maybe if the world revolved around boxing HBO would be in trouble, but like you said a majority of subscribers only watched the GBP fighters only cause they were on HBO. Let's be honest, a good portion of hardcore boxing fans use illegal streams to watch fights anyway. Top Rank and their fighters are actually the big winners in all this cause they'll be getting a lot more exposure to a much broader audience.

Business is business, so if this is done out of spite that right there is a mistake. In business you are suppose to do stuff that benefits you, damaging a rival is one thing but GBP is not really a rival~ they are a provider of programming (or talent).

This is straight up cutting off your nose to spite your face, which is never a good way to run a business. It makes me question the future of boxing on HBO.

Sone saying HBO has more subscribers but this just came out today. I alreafy know 6 that are adding showtime because of this. And this was just in a matter of hours and only people i have talked too.

Having said that HBO has still left the door open they've just said they wouldn't be working with GB for the 'foreseeable future' so it's open to interpretation.
The problem is their is a limited amount of boxing cards showtime can do a year, they have a budget you know. If they worked with both networks that's more possible cards a year Golden Boy can work with and more money. It's good for Showtime but not necessarily good for Golden Boy.

I don't know if this is strictly Hershmans decision or not, but it doesn't help boxing at all.
