In an unprecedented move by the City of Buffalo Common Council, lawmakers passed a resolution today acknowledging their full support in Mesi’s quest to be re-instated from his suspension by the Neveda State Athletic Commission. Council members, Marc Coppola and Richard Fontana sponsored a resolution that reads in part: "Joe Mesi has brought tremendous recognition to Buffalo by virtue of his boxing exploits; and Joe Mesi has strong medical evidence that he suffers no residual damage from his injury; and this council supports a fair hearing before Nevada authorities as he seeks to have his suspension lifted." Joe addressed the council after it’s unanimous approval. "This is a tremendous honor. Thank you for helping me let Las Vegas know we are determined to pursue my dream of bringing a world championship to the city of Buffalo." Coppola will send a certified copy of the proclamation to Marc Ratner and Keith Kizer of the NSAC.
