Hopkins would make easy work out of Golovkin. Mayweather beats him at 154.

Provodnikov is a smaller, less active version of Golovkin. He gets TKO'ed.

$500k is nothing. You think a fighter just gets $500k and walks away with it all jolly to the bank? Rodriguez would be lucky, after every one gets their cut, to even have half of that "half a million".

Refer to the Juan Manuel Marquez article quoting him saying how much he actually takes home after paying taxes and giving every one their cut.

When people say "Damn, this fighter turned down this much [some low 6 digit number]." I know they don't even know what they're talking about.

According to official NSAC documents, Erik Morales got a guarantee $350k against Pablo Cano, he really only took home a mere $90k.

This is what I was talking about Morales:

"Guaranteed" $350k, only took home $84,950 after sanctioning fees, approved advances, federal tax, drug testing, and manager's share. This all results in $85k, and it's not even subtracting paying his team.

Gennady is basically calling out anyone who is willing to fight him - absolutely nothing wrong with it.

The most reasonable fight would be either Martinez or Geale. But how to make them fight him. Gennady is undefeated IBO, WBA champion and many do think he is a next big thing. If that's not reason enough to fight him and don't know what is...

Whom else should Martinez fight? Chavez again? what then?

Yeah I know theres fees, taxes etc. My point was it was a fighter turning down what would be the most he's ever made in a fight. And yeah even still after all the fees, taxes etcare deducted it would still be the most he has ever made. Remember angulo turned down 750K to fight sergio? You dont think hes kicking himself in the asss for that?

So what's your point, it's better to take 75k and walk away with 25?

Is he? His last bout was at 154. Has he given up the belt yet? I haven't seen anyone remove him from #1 spot in 154 rankings yet. Isn't it fair to assume he'd be willing to defend against the best, like a champ should?

Only one I know (don't know if it was a career high payday) was Quillien turning down a title shot for whatever reason after saying he'd do anything for it on showtime
Lots of guys have turned it down, not sure it's a career payday for each. Most had a single decent money shot on HBO, which skews the figures. But for example, Macklin took something like 75k for Alcine, while guys on the Golovkin Proksa undercard got 125k+. He had first dibs at the headliner, and a shot at his first world title.

No but Sergio is, and would go down. Canelo definitely isn't the best either, but he's better than Cotto/Guerrero h2h, and at this point the biggest money fight around. If he gets past Trout, all the more so, he's gonna be huge.
