Comments Thread For: Diaz: Bradley Paid The Price, He Was Hurt in Every Round

CARSON - Timothy Bradley (30-0, 12KOs) won a highly controversial split-decision over Manny Pacquiao to win a welterweight championship this past June 9 in Las Vegas. But Bradley did not get one bit of enjoyment out of the victory.

For the past couple of months Bradley has talked about how badly he wanted to get back in the ring to get that nasty taste out of his mouth. He got his wish Saturday when he defended his belt against Ruslan Provodnikov (22-2, 15KOs) of Russia at Home Depot Center.

Bradley going toe to toe made this fight exciting. In a rematch he would smartly box to a UD.

I felt bad for Diaz last night. He spent all that time in camp devising a gameplan and Bradley didn't listen to him.

It's true, he fought completely out of character last night and it goes to show why boxing involves more than just trading punches. It was a tremendous action-packed fight of course but a person can only sustain a few encounters taking so much punishment before the damage is permanent.

+1 If Bradley would have just followed that game plan he would have won that fight easy. Instead he took a serious beating. Bradley simply just doesn't understand that a man cannot just improve his punching power by lifting more weights he was never going to be a bigger puncher than Ruslan, but at least he's learned his lesson now. If he didn't get it before with Pacquiao he sure gets it now...

Bradley indeed paid the price for that victort last night. He'll never be the same, either. I would suggest for him to take about a year off. The beating he took reminds of the beating Meldrick Taylor took against Chavez in the first fight. Taylor was never the same after that fight.

He was an idiot. He showed heart and bravery by pressing the action, but you could tell by the 12th he was being a moron.

Diaz clearly told him to clinch and stay away, yet Bradley had his backs upon the ropes and tried to trade with Ruslan. He didn't even hold once, until he was nearly dropped to the canvas. I could sense Diaz's frustration. I was frustrated as well, even though I was rooting for Ruslan.

That's why we rarely see someone like Floyd or Hopkins get rocked or knocked out. If they get in trouble against the ropes like Bradley did they use lateral movement and clinch and hold.
