Yes, the fight should've been closer than the judges had it. I gave Bradley 8 rounds based on cleaner punching and activity. I believe the first round should've been a KD and should've been scored accordingly. (10-8)
Here's the way I scored it, keeping in mind close rounds go to the champion in my opinion...
1. Provodnikov 10/8
2. Provodnikov 10/8
3. Bradley 10/9
4. Bradley 10/9
5. Bradley 10/9
6. Provodnikov 10/9
7. Bradley 10/9
8. Bradley 10/9
9. Bradley 10/9
10. Bradley 10/9
11. Bradley 10/9 (or 10/10) (10/9 Provodnikov)
12. Provodnikov 10/8
113-112 Bradley (or 113-113 Draw) (or 113-112 Provodnikov)
I feel Bradley won by a point, and that's giving Provodnikov the benefit of the doubt and scoring rounds 1 and 2, 10-8 in his favor. I also think a draw or a Provodnikov win would've been acceptable. In no way, shape or form was this a "robbery" being as how close the fight was.
Bradley, could've easily fought the entire fight like he did rounds 3-11 and would've skated with an easier UD. He was having success when he actually listened to his corner. He chose to stand toe to toe with a very dangerous fighter and ended up paying for it but giving us a great show in the meantime. Some people call it running when it benefits their argument but the fact is Tim was effectively boxing Provodnikov by making him come after him and scoring by punch output. Tim realized he was fighting the wrong fight and made the adjustment for the most part. The fact that he was willing to fight him period says a lot about Tim's character. Given the fact he's been inactive for 10 months and has been put through the dirt by fans and critics alike. Provodnikov is a high risk, low reward fighter and that showed last night. I don't see many top guys wanting to fight him next.
One thing people cannot disagree with me or take away from Bradley is, whether you thought he won, lost, or should've drawn, both men put on a great show last night and at the very least should admit that you didn't expect that and enjoyed a great night of boxing.
Tim showed his will to keep winning and heart to continue fighting despite being hurt he kept fighting and showed what a true champion should be like. Despite being out on his feet several times, he kept swinging.
During the fighter interview you could tell he's lost the love for the sport. He was honest about how he felt and I respected that so much about him. One thing that struck with me was him saying he now fights for his family. I interpreted that as him not caring about what 'fans' and 'critics' thought and I after reading some of the threads and hate his gets, could you blame him? The man even got booed in his own home town after putting on a great show for them. There was absolutely no need for him to get death threats over something he had no control of. For the record, I also thought he lost the Pac fight.
Tim simply cannot win with some people. Some posters spin things any way they can to discredit him. I don't understand why it's so black and white with some fans on this forum. It's like if you don't like a guy, you can't give him an ounce of credit. Bradley is good for the sport. He works hard and is always challenging himself. His resume speaks for itself.
I wasn't a big fan of Bradley before last night but to me he showed a lot of heart and willingness to win. To those true fans of the sport without their own agenda, let's show the champ Timothy Bradley your appreciation and support. (Feel free to copy my sig.)
