Its a shame some boxing fans completely discredit a fighter when a fight is tougher than they thought it would be. If he would have boxed all night, you probably would have said he didn't have the heart to fight toe to toe, he's a bi*ch, etc.....
P4P fighters don't get nearly knocked out several times in a fight with a hard-hitting but slow Russian dude. They just don't. Timmy showcased some serious flaws he's got tonight. That's all. Saying he's not elite or that he's not P4P isn't "totally discrediting him".
u kno dude, like im so disappointed on this post im reading that i just feel like quitting this site like for real are yall for real, am i the dumbass that yall are laughing at for getting mad cause, like i dont trust anybody on this site no more, i usually ignore sh !it but come on, i been a boxing fan since i was a kid so nobody is bullsh !ting me
He's exciting, he's got heart, but I don't consider him an elite P4P fighter. A guy with speed, athleticism and decent skills who decides to throw all this out the window and brawl with a bigger puncher, gets hurt then keeps brawling for 7-8 rounds until finally deciding to box and move? Nah I'm sorry but he's not the cream of the crop. He's a A level fighter with a C level brain.
you don't realize why he did it, do you?
he didn't do it because he's dumb. he knew exactly how to sweep rounds in that fight. see rounds 7-10.
he did it (fought Provodnikov's fight for frequent periods) because there has been a sense in the industry of nobody wanting to go near Timothy Bradley. he's hard to beat, he makes you look bad, he doesn't bring marketability to the table, the risk of losing outweighs the reward in facing Bradley.
he was trying to put himself in the shop window tonight.
and in making Ruslan Provodnikov look good, while still winning the fight, he made himself an attractive opponent in two ways tonight:
1. he showed himself marketable - fans should want to see him again and be excited about a fight involving Tim Bradley
2. he showed himself vulnerable and therefore more easily beatable in the minds of potential name opponents (Marquez, Rios)
point #2 is deceptive, though - because, if Bradley lands that big fight with either of those two guys, you know he isn't going to be playing into the opponent's hands the way he did tonight.
