Interesting matchup. Looking forward to seeing what they both have left.

Where is this going to be held?
I heard that it might be in Olympic Stadium - the Expos old home.

what's the weight? can't imagine Pascal coming down, he's huge. if Bute is moving up to 175 to take on a big-punching LHW, this is a hugely ambitious and ballsy move for him so soon after being obliterated by Froch. makes me admire him a bit.

His alternative is to stay at 168 and be destroyed by Froch again.
He is fighting Pascal because the payoff is greater and the risk is less than stepping to the Cobra again.... or Ward for that matter.
Bute is bigger than any of the guys who fought in the S6. Moving up to 175 is not some hugely ballsy move that deserves a ******.

This fight will suck. Last year it mattered. This year it's 2 Canadian fruitcakes fighting for french fry funds.
Both guys are terrified of being knocked out and are notorious for fighting sporadically. These guys will bull**** around and posture like models on the outside for 90% of the fight.

re. the bold, they were talking about padding him to another 168 title last i heard. this is a much more ambitious move and shows Bute's willingness to make a risky fight that fans in his neck of the woods have been clamouring for, payday or not. he could wait around to bag another paper strap and try to get his soft hometown defences money-train going again (something i'm sure you expected of him), but he's actually sticking his neck out.
and it's the timing more than anything. he's shown himself vulnerable to solid punchers at 168, so stepping up to a big puncher at 175 before his confidence appears to be adequately patched up (the Grachev fight was hardly a full and total resoration of his wounded pride) is a move that deserves some commendation in the modern climate.
on the other hand, i guess there's a possibility that the move up helps his resistance to punches, but that remains to be seen. i think he's going to lack a certain durability at any weight.Last edited by S. Saddler 1310; 03-16-2013, 08:20 AM.

Sorry. Haven't slept yet. Big music festival in town. You're one of the better posters around so I apologize I just can't stand Bute at all and I don't see this as anything other than a cop out. I don't know where Pascal developed such a sterling reputation because to me his style is utter ****.
If you really look at this matchup I believe it favors Bute and that's why he is taking the fight now. I don't think he took it earlier because he thought he was too good to give Pascal parody on the money and fight at Pascal's weight. Now that he has been KTFO and humiliated he is willing to settle for the same terms with Pascal that he has previously turned his nose to.
That's why this fight disgusts me in every way.
It's an indictment of boxing that fights likes this only get made after at least one guy (and preferably both) loses.
Pascal really has no world class skill. He relies on athleticism and shoe shine combinations. He does not apply the pressure necessary to fold up Bute the way Froch did.
