  • Comments Thread For: Tyson: Mayweather Now Has To Live Up To The Fights

Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson is very impressed with Floyd Mayweather's very lucrative multi-fight deal with Showtime. Mayweather officially jumped ship from HBO to Showtime a few weeks ago, and signed a six fight agreement that some estimate is worth $250 million dollars. The first fight of the deal takes place on May 4th, when Mayweather defends the WBC welterweight title against Robert Guerrero at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Back in the 90's, it was Tyson who made nationwide headlines when he jumped from HBO to Showtime.

Wasn't there an article out there where he basically admitted he's going to cherry pick 6 more times? "I'm not looking to fight any strong champions" or something similar was said if I remember correctly. Anyway the first one is already well in order, set for May 4th.

Tyson is right though, he has to live up to the fights or else people will just continue to stream them.

I hope Guerrero knocks him the **** out and embarrasses Showtime. HBO is the king in Boxing networking and I hope they choke on a Mayweather loss.

Why does Floyd have so many people that dislike him, sorry, I mean hate on him? You can use those words interchangeably, but how many of us would turn down that type of deal? Really, it is a good decision for him and he has always backed up his talk although is an ******* at times. He should not fight Canelo, Canelo is a 154 that comes into the fight at 170. Canelo should fight Martinez or Caesar Chavez, someone more his size. Cotto is half that size. Give the guy a break, they have weight classes for a reason.
