Signing boxers using Floyds name while hes locked up is one thing. Signing boxers on your own is completely different. 50s basically on Arums tit. ESPN apparently likes 50 but they dont have the boxing budget to pay big dollars. Peterson made like 13 grand fighting Holt on ESPN and hes an accomplished fighter. 50s finished in boxing. Just bow out gracefully and let Gamboa and Dirrell make something out of their carreer.
It had NOTHING to do with ESPN not having a boxing budget
Holt - Peterson was ordered by the IBF and went to a purse bid. Shaw (Holt's promoter) bid 50K while Peterson's side did not bid at all, i think he was a free agent. So he won the purse bid with 50K and the champ gets a 75-25% split. This was all before it was decided it would be put on FNF
Russell acts like Haymon is doing a good job with his career. I'm not saying he should sign with 50 but please don't act like your career is on track. Haymon has moved Russell along wayyyyy too slow fighting tomato cans for short money. With his talent he should already have a belt
Ouch! Yeah, they're uneasy to watch, especially the one from the Gamboa fight. That sucks that his fighters can't use they're own choice of music to to get themselves pumped.
The answer for Gary Russell was so easy I can't even say he was smart to say no cause that was the only answer he could give 50.
I'm still not rolling with Russell or Haymon for the simple fact that Russell is from the DC area has had 20+ fights and not a single one has been in the DC area. This is the perfect example of why a lot of fighters can't get a good sizable traveling crowd from their hometown.
