$5 million gate for Martinez-Murray is expected

That's converted to USD, not pesos. Pretty crazy since that's around the same Pacquiao-Margarito made in the Cowboys Stadium. Apparently everything is sold out except for a few of the cheapest seats.

I wonder how much will Martinez earn from that $5mill gate. He's already guaranteed how much by the government?

No surprise here. The Argentinian-Brit rivalry is pretty big over there apparently. They made a smart choice fighting Murray.

40 000 people coming to see one man. And that man only started to become known in his country a couple years ago.

Just shows that if you put fights in hometowns or countries they will sell.

It's bit more impressive because he only became known like 10 months ago after giving a TV interview. He was barely known before that even with the Pavlik and Williams wins.

The article also says it's a record for all sporting events in Argentina, but it's not clear if it's a record in real or nominal dollars. Argentina has high inflation.

Martinez retweeted the article so I guess the author's numbers are legit.

Does this mean we never see Martinez fight in the US again? Does he even need HBO anymore?
