In an ATG Radio interview a few hours ago, he said it happened a week after Ward announced he needed surgery, which is the main reason why he's not going to fight anymore apparently.

damn...hope that wasn't the case...but i knew it was pretty abrupt that he was retiring right around having the toughest fight of his career...ward would have worked him...martinez did work him...hopkins worked him...he should be done cause if he went after froch or kessler, they would have worked him...Comment

Pavlik took a lot of punishment and fought some big punchers over the course of his career. For a guy with not much head movement Miranda and Martinez alone would be enough to do anyone in but Taylor and Hopkins landed pretty clean on him as well.
There's no telling how many beer and whiskey bottles he's been hit over the head with in bar fights but ill always miss "The Ghost" at least he still his money.Comment
