To all those who still harbour ill feelings towards BHop for his comments before the Calzaghe fight....it's obvious they were spur of the moment comments he didn't mean.

The man is not a racist. I know there's still many people on here who hate him for what he said but i think it's clear he didn't mean them.

The man is a true great of the sport. Don't let a few daft comments he probably regrets saying make you hate one of the true legends of this sport.

I don't think he hates white people at all. I do think he believes that he is more athletic than white people, and didn't really think that one could beat him in a boxing match.

Nah. Hopkins is a confirmed racist. He beat Calzaghe in my clear view. He's also a racist. Clearly.

I always thought Hopkins had a different connotation in mind than what people made it out to be, but it was still a pretty ****** thing to say nonetheless. Taken into historical context, a white guy saying he'd never let a black man defeat him, he'd mean "I'll never let an inferior race defeat me." Meanwhile, I kind of thought Hopkins meant it in a "I'll never let the white man bring me down" type of way considering history's recent institutionalized racism/slavery. This isn't really racist, but it was a pretty unnecessary layer Hopkins was trying to add to the fight.

Or maybe I'm just over thinking it.
