How would Ike Quartey do today?

Simple question. If he were to fight the 140-147 lb fighters of today, how do you think he would fare? I, for one, am a big fan of Quartey.

He'd run this welterweight division. Best jab in the game, buckling power in both hands....unified champ.

Prime Ike, the 1 that went blow for blow with a prime Oscar?? He'd own 147 in it's entirety. Floyd included. Easy work of everyone there. Unified, undisputed, you name it, he'd be it.

He could beat everyone at welterweight, and outside of Mayweather would do so easily. Pac at this point isn't beating him, Marquez sure isn't, and LOL at anyone else.

he'll beat everyone but Floyd. He's not beating Floyd, I dont care what anyone says. He would probably beat the small/weaker versioin of Floyd who debuted at WW but not this version. Again though, its still sad that you never got to see Floyd with this bulk/strength but in his prime. I still say he shouldnt have chased the money but it is what it is

He could never fight at 140. I think a prime Quartey would do very well at welterweight today. I can't think of a welterweight he would not have a good chance to beat including Mayweather. He was a left hander that fought right handed as did Oscar and Tito. He had a pretty good right hand and a powerful left hook and a left jab so hard it earned him the nickname of bazooka. About half the fans that saw his fight with Oscar thought Quartey should have been awarded the decision. He was rock hard at 147 and later fought at 154 so I think him fighting at 140 would be out.

Good post. I actually meant if some of the 140's would move up to WW.
