Comments Thread For: Frank Warren Sues Ricky Burns, Hearn Not Worried

Following the announcement by Eddie Hearn that Ricky Burns has signed with him, W. Promotions Limited and Frank Warren are suing Burns for substantial damages. Warren says Burns is under binding promotional and management contracts. Hearn says the threat of legal action from Frank Warren will not disrupt Ricky Burns' Matchroom debut on 11 May.

      Irrelevant.

Hearn said earlier on SSN that his lawyers have made him sure that everything is comfortable and that there's nothing to worry about.

Warren is done and he's making some last ditch moves in desperation.

        Warren has Cleverly right?

Other than him now that Burns has bolted he does not have a single world champion correct?

Sets up a nice story line for Hopkins to come over to the UK and beat up Cleverly and be able to say he retired the oldest and most worthless promoters on both sides of the pond.

LMAO, I posted the other week that the only time I hear anything about Warren, it's either that one of his fighter has left him or he is suing one of them. The last 2 articles about him were: "Burns leaves Warren" and "Warren sues Burns". Wow, that is just too funny.

Yep, Cleverly is his last guy...unless you think Saunders is going anywhere, which I don't.

Burns jumped ship. Groves jumped ship. Bellew jumped ship. Price got KO'd.

On the other hand, Hearn now has all of those guys as well as Carl Froch, Kell Brook, Carl Frampton, Darren Barker, Kal Yafai....

How did Warren get away with getting his fighters under management and promotional contracts?

I thought the Micheal Watson case ruled that was a conflict of interests and it wasnt allowed?

Can anyone enlighten me? did the rules change or summat?

Hmmm... was to be expected. Steve Bunce said he has Warren and Hearn on his show tonight! should be interesting though i doubt they'd appear together if they did.

At least one thing we know for "certain", is that they are very comfortable....I and i wouldn't be surprised if Warren got an injunction to have the fight stopped, until the contract violation is decided on.

The most astounding things go on in boxing behind the scenes that we poor customers have no idea of. If we ever found out we wouldn't believe it....

Warren is highly litigious so this is to be expected but given the speed with which burns signed it wouldn't surprise me if burns was given assurances that he was within his rights to terminate the agreement and on solid ground legally. I would imagine that in getting a boxer to sign a contact you are giving him assurances on a certain number of bouts and a certain level of income esp. If he achieves world champion status. Frank hasn't delivered his end of the bargain in the past six months and Ricky hasn't earned a penny but has incurred costs in training camps.. I guess it would be on Warren to demonstrate that the Vasquez issue was beyond his control but I'd not want to go there if it comes out that Vasquez pulled out due to not having had a contract and thus no guarantee of payment. Not that a contract with Warren is a guarantee of payment anyway.
