Comments Thread For: Naazim: Bernard Hopkins Should Only Fight Champions

Trainer Naazim Richardson believes IBF light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins should only face fighters who are champions from this point forward. Hopkins, at age 48, made history on Saturday night by breaking his own record as the oldest boxer to capture a major world championship. He won a twelve round decision over Tavoris Cloud to grab the IBF belt at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Right, because he keeps taking so much punishment in fights.

I want to see a Chad Dawson rematch.

      Nathan Cleverly is another one.

Ward seems to be the one he doesn't want - which is strange given how heavily he inferred 'anyone at 168' after the Cloud fight. Then he says, "Not for $15 million." Maybe he's saying, "This fight is the toughest out there, you want me in it, you have to pay." Which would make sense given how he talked about his being undervalued in boxing, compared to the Lance Armstrongs of this world and how he'd be a mega star if he were a basketball player being successful at 48.

Bhop would lose again against Chad Dawson...
Nathan Cleverly is one I think he could beat that's so long as Nathan Cleverly doesn't deploy the right gameplan.

What type or punishment is B-hop taking? You get hit in a fight, Jan Zaveck took punishment- cotto took punishment in the plaster fight, mosley took punishment in the mayweather / canelo fight - lopez took punishment in the canelo fight, believe me a 48 year old will know when He is taking punishment and gladly bow out.

FIGHT ANDRE WARD or retire. hopkins looking really shooked right now, his kryptonite is a boxer with fast hands so he pulling out the ''we're friends'' card to avoid ward, this is sickening. i respect bhop way too much but this a B*TCH MOVE on his part.

It was Ward who pulled the 'we're friends' thing first after the Carl Froch fight.

Nothing satisfy's the haters out here - he should fight this guy or that guy ha ha- ***** move etc - why dont you fight andre ward ! The man is 48 years old he only has a fight or 2 left in him, but if he does not fight ward its a ***** move - you sound ****** as hell, I honestly do not think ward would fight him anyways, he has a lot of b-hops game in him. Remember this the ma n is 48 years old and just captured a legit world title, put that in your pipe along with the other stuff and smoke it- learn to give respect there is a begining and a ending to everything
