As for Hatton-Mayweather, if Ricky fights the way he fought against Tszyu and Maussa then he stands little chance against Mayweather. However, Hatton is the only guy close to Mayweather's skill level and based on what I've seen of Ricky from amateur and pro he definately can beat Mayweather at or near his best.. unfortunately though, I fear his best is long gone. He had all the skill in the world but always lacked the heart and discipline for boxing, which is a shame.

      hmm

Its clear from the statement that Hatton's father talks alot of sense. Ricky has a good, intelligent man guiding him.
LOL..if it was Roy Jones you'd say they were ducking...

But anyway...Hatton has a good chance to beat Cotto, Floyd, and Castillo. I'd only pick him with confidence over Cotto though. Cotto is just the type that could be overwhelmed by Hatton's style.

Castillo is just too ****in tough to get blown away by anyone.

Floyd has all the skills to pay the bills, and when you look at hus clear win vs Castillo in their rematch, it makes you think Floyd has the answers to beat Hatton. I'm the first to admit Floyd lost the first fight vs Castillo, but you can't judge him on that alone. He proved he can deal with a guy like that in the rematch.

      Floyd close UD Hatton
Hatton TKO5 Cotto in a war
      Castillo TKO9 Hatton on cuts

Ricky told a friend of mine (good friend of Rick's) that he won't stand toe-to-toe with Castillo, that he will out-box him instead.

          hmm

Ricky would outbox Castillo just like Corrales did...in his mind. There are two impediments for Ricky if he would try to outbox Castillo.

          1) Hatton is a natural brawler, and eventually he will scrap with Castillo just like Corrales did.

          2) Even if Hatton somehow manages to stay on the outside, he will not outbox Castillo. As far as pure outside boxing skills are concerned, Castillo has already shown that stuff does not work against him vs guys with equal or higher boxing skills than Hatton.

At 5ft6 with a 65-inch reach, I seriously doubt Hatton will work on the outside I'm sure Ricky means he'd move in and out against Castillo and use his skills.

Ricky is NOT a natural brawler, he was known actually for the complete opposite in the amateurs. While others his age would rush in and throw a load of leather, Ricky was always the one-off who would remain particularly composed and pick his shots. From a very young age, he started punching to the body on his own accord. He figured how to move his head when moving in and to throw a little jab when moving back out, he figured that by himself. In England, the coaches learn you to block punches and have an upright style and generally the English style is pretty static. But Ricky pretty much learned himself how to be more effective than that, and he could figure halfway through a fight how to beat his opponent and change what he was doing. His tactics were spot-on against Tszyu - smother the old man non-stop and don't give him the room he requires to land that long right cross, knowing what had happened to Judah and Mitchell who's styles were to try to pull away from shots.

It wasn't vintage Hatton, but it worked

The Maussa fight was another poor performance, by Hatton's standards.

                hmm

Roy was a brawler in the ams as well, that doesn't tell what you naturally are though. People change when they go pro. Ams require a higher pace of fighting. Either way, no one has really been clearly successful at slowing down the pace and moving in and out vs Castillo aside from Floyd. Hatton's skills on those terms do not match up with Floyd's.

If you watch Castillo vs Corrales II, you will see it is Castillo that was moving in and out vs Chico.

id pick hatton over cotto by late stoppage, un dec over castillo and to lose by points to PBF.
Cas has stated he wants to beat chico again then fight cotto for the 140 wbo belt so hatton could fight the winner out of that

Well, your entitled to your opinion but we'll just have to wait and see what happens if they fight. Nobody in boxing closes the distance as quickly as Hatton, and Hatton has the skill and smarts to throw a punch while moving out to throw them off and then come at another angle. But, we'll see.

If they fightm you and I will have to bet. It would be a close fight I think, which makes the bet more interesting.
