I was actually starting to warm towards Broner after the way he took care of DeMarco, but this fight is just pitiful. They're going to try and build this up as if it were some sort of serious challenge, and how significant a victory it would be for Broner - completely ignoring the fact that Malignaggi is the worst title holder in the division and lost his last fight - and when Broner goes out and handles him without too much trouble, HBO's slobbering and fawning of Broner will reach unbearable heights (don't be surprised to see Lampley scrambling his way into the ring, knocking Kellerman out of the way, pulling Broner's trunks down and giving him a slurpee on live television following the fight.)
Give the guy a break. He's barely getting started. He's got charisma and attracts alot of attention. Why is everybody ready to throw him to the sharks at the 140lb division? Let him work his way up slowly(quality not weight) and make some money while he's at it. If he can make some nice change by beating a hype job like malignaggi more power to him. I mean damn if you're going to get paid to get punched in the face you might as well make as much money as you can doing it.
Because he's an arrogant punk, and people always want to see the arrogant punk get beat down. He wants this love/hate anyways, thats why he acts like an idiot, so floyd fans have somebody else to fall in love with.
Pauli could possibly be a difficult fight for Broner. He will be the biggest and fastest challenge yet. Plus, he has skills. Pauli also has good foot speed to keep Broner moving. No, I do not think he can hurt Broner, but with the proper fight plan, he could possibly outpoint him. Pauli definitely has the tools. I just don't get the move up. Lets say Broner pulls it off. Who would he fight next? Everyone in the division would be a huge threat. If Broner were my fighter, I would keep him at 135 until an undisputed champion came out of 140. Then I would step up and challenge for the 140 title.
I'm sorry to say this ,but Pauli is nothing more than a gatekeeper even though he's got a belt.
Just like Cotto and Khan became a serious contenders after beating Pauli. I think and is fair to say that most boxing fans expect for Broner to past the test with ease just like Cotto and Khan, however that does not make him an A class fighter, that is a test on a different level.
It will be an interesting fight, what score Broner earns on this upcoming test.
Richard Abril poses a threat because of his reach at 135 and 140 has plenty of serious threats so they avoid any threats at all and move up to 147 and keep feeding Broner C level fighters. Just like Mayweather.
r u f***in jokin? why should he get to make sooo much money if he's working his way up slowly. EITHER work your way up slowly or take risks and get paid accordingly. We pay $ for our HBO and Showtime subscriptions, and should demand quality matchups accordingly. if he wants to fight guys like Reese and malignaggi, fine; but that shuold be a boxing after dark for 100K or 200K, not 1- 1.5 mil, like he's currently getting. It's just like Mayweather - he gets guaranteed 30 mil per fight so he has no incentive to take a risky fight like Pac or Martinez - same here. He's already getting over 1 mil per fight in HBO for easy fights, so what incentive does he have to fight Garcia or Mattyse. I am getting so sick of big fights where half the time we know who is gonna win before the fight starts.
I agree with mostly everything you said except the bold. No need to go down that road again but this line is bull*****. End of discussion.

Ok, why are we hating on these guys making millions of dollars fighting nobody's? Don't hate the player, hate the game. And obviously none of us in here hate the game because we spend our PPV $$$ watching, so why are we complaining? Let's enjoy and watch these talented fighters grow. Like we've said a million times, they're in their early 20's. We've got a whole decade to watch these guys and study them and criticize. Right now is not the time yet. Let them earn their cash on the nobody's, and we can talk **** later when it counts. If I was a fighter, I'd have the same perspective as Malignaggi stated in his interview a few days ago..."I'm going to fight the guy that makes me the most money". It's not about ducking, or legacy, it's about money. The legacy will come with time. When the guy is a millionaire and he's earned the position of picking and choosing his fighters, that's when we can praise and bash and earn his way in to Hall of Fame, GOAT status.
