Comments Thread For: Salgado vs. Mendez Early Fight Results: Molina Wins

2012 Mexican Olympian Oscar Molina stopped Willie Walton in the second round of a scheduled four round bout. Molina (2-0, 1 KO) landed the more telling blows in the first round while the southpaw Walton bobbed and weaved in an attempt to avoid being punches. Molina dropped Walton with a counter right cross moments into the second round. Walton stood up but was met with a barrage of punches, prompting referee Thomas Taylor to stop the bout at 35 seconds.

WOW! Mendez just came alive! He always seemed somewhat boring as a fighter but he was a monster tonight! He added aggression and power with his obvious skills and is now a complete fighter. The Junior Lightweights have got a new Star! Excellent physical shape, sits down on his punches and what a KO punch!

What a KO Argenis Mendez got his well deserved victory im mexican but he won the first fight and tonight he proved he was the superior fighter. Dominicans now have a world champion they can be proud of and I think he could be a future star in the sport he has good defense and has decent pop as demonstrated tonight. I would like to see him vs Gamboa battle of the islanders or even against uchiyama that would be nice hopefully he gets more exposure on primetime tv.

he was aggresive which is good but i think that had to do with salgados lack of power, but he impressed me with his speed and accurate punching,,whenever juanma decides to go after a belt hopefully its against this guy

Mendez looked very sharp. The guy has mad skills. Salgado fought like an idiot. Great win for Mendez. Move up, I would love to see him get a shot at Broner.

Great job by Mendez! Salgado did not look like a professional boxer by any means; I'm sick of seeing these fools with their left hand down like they're slick or fast enough to evade that right hand!! He ate about every right hand Mendez threw!! Haha. Props to Mendez, he came and fought like a champ.

I'm not surprised at all! Mendez is the goods! I really hope he gets a good chance to fight with a lot more exposure! A lot of skills! He is ready for the fighters at the top...no doubt in my mind....complete fighter!

Bring on Gamboa, Broner or even Juanma if he wants it. Of course a fight with Broner is not gonna happen.
