Canelo was the ultimate goal in both Trout and Cotto, he's where the money is at. Unfortunately Trout threw a monkey wrench in Cotto's plans and set him back.

You won't find a bigger fan of Canlo's than Cotto when he fights Trout. Cotto wants a couple of last big paydays before he calls it quits.

Cotto is a warrior but you need to understand the way the boxing biz works, Cotto like every other fighter is seeking the bigger money fights and that's with Canelo.
You're not making a lot of sense here bro. All I'm saying is that Cotto didn't have to fight Trout, nobody was even really asking for that fight. Cotto took it for whatever reason and paid the price, end of story. I don't get where you came up with this idea that Cotto had to fight Trout in order to get Canelo.

Goldenboy didnt even want the Trout fight...they openly expressed this... it was Cotto's choice...it definitely wasnt a semi-final for Canelo.... Cotto wanted the belt i guess for bargaining chips during negotiation for the Canelo fight... (ring walk, announcing, money)

Because it was already being discussed. Cotto vs Canelo was the fight they wanted but wanted to lagitimize the fight with the belt.

What they really wanted was Cotto to beat Trout and then set up a big fight on PPV between Canelo and Cotto, Trout ***ed that up. K9 was never in the picture.

The boxing fans wouldnt let canelo get away with another bumfight ...so they are now being forced to test him in a high risk fight.... at least the Cotto fight was high risk, high reward...

Honestly, who gives a crap about belts? Canelo-Cotto didn't need to be legitimized by some crappy alphabet soup belt; the fight was going to sell regardless.

Who was "they" that wanted Cotto to beat Trout? If you're referring to Golden Boy, I'm sure they would have much rather preferred Cotto to take a much easier fight to make their mega fight.

I never said that K-9 was ever in the picture, I just stated that if Cotto was so desperate for a belt (as you claim), then he could have just easily fought K-9 for his belt.

If Cotto has anything left, he would make Ortiz quit again

No, I answered you're claim that Cotto was not fighting for anything, he was...Trouts belt.

GB wanted Cotto vs Canelo, that was the route they would have preferred. Bigger money fight.

I didn't imply anything like that, I basically am saying the same thing you are saying. GB wanted Cotto vs Canelo, they said it many times, it was the biggest fight available. Why do you think Trout was so happy to get Canelo? He's the cash cow right now.
