    Quick question

    from a "newbie"

Im wondering how a straight right (im a southpaw so it would be a left cross)
can yeild a knockout. KOs that I have seen in boxing and MMA usually result from a shot on the chin that jolts the head to the left or right in a split second (the punch coming across the jaw from the left or right)
But a straight punch wouldnt cause that head motion bc its straight on!
In boxing is the staright a less common or used at all KO punch?
    please explain...
    thanks!

A temple shot, or a shot on that sweet spot just under your ear can yield a pretty devastating KO. Also if you step off to the side a bit the straight punch can be effective in getting a KO

Tons of kos from straight punches bro, anything that makes the brain shake results in a ko, when it's straight punch the brain shakes front to back .also depends a straight pucnh for different angles can land different parts of the chin or head.

nothing is better then a fighter who can throw straight punches down the pipe. You will always beat those guys that throw looping shots to the punch. Dont change that if thats what you are good at. Even if you dont feel like you are throwing KO punches, you will still come out better in the long run. A sharp-shooter is hard to beat

That wasn't anything close to a straight right, that was a roundhouse swing. Marquez' head was away down and past Pacquiao's chest when the punch landed. He didn;t even see where it was going.

Good advice, it reaches the opponent split-second sooner. Has an effect somewhat like a left jab except much stronger. Not the easiest punch to perfect. If you have it, keep it.
