    Gary Russell jr vs Abner Mares :who wins?

    Who do you think would win and how?

    For me Mares is untested at 122 and 126 at this moment, GR jr hasn't faced a top opponent yet, but I think Russell would box him and dropped Mares a couple of times, Jr would be the hardest puncher Mares has ever faced.

      Wow. Just go on ahead & take Russel then. But until proven otherwise, I'll take the fighter with the superior resume. The guy with the experience, the multi division champ that's undefeated that everyone underrates.

          Good fight. Mini-Chavez vs. Taylor.

          As of right now I'm leaning towards Mares because I haven't seen Russell up against somebody with the ability to fight back.

                      This is a great fight. People tend to forget that Mares was an Olympian and an underrated boxer because of his come forward style. I'd go with Mares. Russell isn't a pillow puncher like Mares last opponent, that's why this is a very good fight and also wouldn't be surprise if Russell Jr. makes Mares think twice before rushing in like he did against Moreno.

                          To close to call right now. Mares has one tough fight with De Leon coming up let's see how that goes with Mares. If Mares wins and and looks great doing it why not make that fight in the future. Russell Jr is a pretty good fighter and should be fighting some good fighters by now. Gary calling out JuanMa after his win last night Russell Jr should already know by now that TR+GBP=no fight.

                                      True, but Mares has yet to face a 122 or 126 fighter. Even though GR jr hasn't faced anyone worthy at 126, we know what he's capable at that weight.

                                      I agree, if he breaks his hands against any top fighter, he probably wouldn't survive.
