  • Comments Thread For: Klitschko vs. Pianeta Waiting For The WBA's Approval

Sources close to K2 Promotions are stating that Francesco Pianeta (28-0-1, 15 KOs) will be the next opponent for WBO/IBO/IBF/WBA heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (59-3, 51 KOs). Terms have been reportedly agreed upon, but Wladimir is waiting to get approval from the World Boxing Association. Sauerland Event, who promote WBA "regular" champion Alexander Povetkin, put in a petition with the WBA to force Wladimir to reach a deal with them before entering a voluntary defense. If everything comes together, it will happen on May 4th at the SAP Arena in Mannheim.

The Povetkin situation sucks. Should have been Sasha and not Pianeta to fight Wlad on such a date.

Don't see any reason why this fight is happening unless Vladimir is trying to use up his contract with RTL or whichever TV broadcast his fights.

He wants to fight 3 times a year, Pianeta is supposed to be a stay busy.

I would really like to see Tyson in there soon. Lets hope he beats Cunningham and Thompson. After that he might just be ready for Wlad...

That isn't a problem, he should have fought Povetkin and get him out of the way. That doesn't disturb his 3 fights for 2013.

Yep. I'm pretty high on Fury. Cunningham is a tricky fight though.

Don't know if you've been following boxing lately, but negotiations with team Povetkin are difficult.

I have they are still negotiating, and no need to be over sensitive mate.
