actually, having just re-watched a few rounds of the Abril -vs- Ríos fight i have a question-
is there anyway i can just block everyone who thinks Abril was just grabbing and holding?
everyone is entitled to their opinion but my views on boxing are so far removed from theirs that it is really not worth my time to ever read another one of their comments.

Richie looked like the "old professor" against Rios. It was almost as if Abril were conducting a master class. Every time Brandon tried something, Richard demonstrated how to nullify it. It was very interesting and instructive to watch. Those are called "skills." Most fans wouldn't know what they were watching, so they label it "boring."
        yeah bro, damn right.

i've said it before but will again -
Ríos was the only boring element of that fight- 12 rounds of the same unintelligent crap without even trying something new despite losing pretty much every minute of every round. how boring is THAT?!

ok, a challenge for those that disliked Abril's efforts in that fight:
tell me ONE SINGLE THING that Ríos did that wasn't dumb during that 12 rounds.
        ONE SINGLE THING.
i shan't hold my breath waiting to hear back on that one.

            ha ha. yeah fair do's.
something i WOULD genuinely like though is that boxing could be surrounded by a culture at the level it, in my opinion, deserves.

it is an intelligent and noble sport and much as it is rough and tough and for badasses.
any one of the above characteristics is pretty cool, but a combination of all them is what i love, the best of boxing.

I feel this fight will go the distance but will Abril get the decision do you think should he deserve it?

I just have no faith in Abril winning a decision.
He beat Prescott for me, he beat the **** out of Lundy and got robbed. He toyed with Rios and got robbed (Jerry Roth 116-112 Rios, lol, I'd love to punch you)
Those were some blatant losses (for the opponents), I only gave Rios one or two rounds in that fight and I think that was generous. Imagine where Mayweather's career would be if he'd gotten robbed three times. A loss, even by robbery, can really send a fighter back in this sport. Commissions should be tougher on bad judges (how are guys like Glenn Trowbridge and Jerry Roth still judging let lone high profile fights?) and split decisions should be considered draws.

Here's what you do, start a thread called "Abril will school Rios NO MATTER what" or "Did Abril hold Rios in their fight?"

Then you will see those people who claim Abril was doing nothing but holding. Secondly, if my memory serves me right I think Abril did some holding but Rios also did his share of holding once Abril stuck that cold shoulder to him. He was clueless.

I haven't seen the guy he's fighting tonight ever, but I like Abril since I saw him beat Rios. Hopefully he tunes it up a notch if he gets the man hurt, he can't just keep accepting this robberies. Rios will never rematch him either.

I'll be tuning in for Abril tonight.
