That's what people does NOT understand about boxing. Boxers will use their best strategy to win fights. Some boxers' best strategy is to brawl (Brandon Rios's style), and others' strategy is to avoid getting hit by holding, etc. As long as the referee does not advise the boxer of taking a point away for holding, he can continue doing it for his advantage. Like you said, hit and don't get hit. Most of the boxing fans don't like this game plan, but it is the best game plan you could execute if you want to enjoy your post-boxing career. Go ask Margarito if stopping pinches with his face was the best strategy. Yes, it was for him, because that was the only way he could stand a chance at winning a fight, by doing that while making his opponents get tired, but at the long run, taking too many blows is not an intelligent way to fight through 12 rounds against a PEDs suspect. So, hitting and not getting hit is the logical thing in boxing. If you don't like the style, don't watch it. As simple as that. Good post!

I enjoy brawlers going at it with each other or fighting pure boxers cause it's interesting watching them finding a way to beat their opponent. But Im not gonna sit here and talk **** about people like Molina or Abril cause of their fighting style. They are very technical and tricky with their style. This is boxing and you should know those styles are expected, like you said, if you dont like it dont watch it. With that said, I fkin hate watching Vazquez fight... Not sure if it's his style or his stance or the way he looks or what but damn I hate it!

Fans keep grinding on Abril's holding, but most times it's to protect himself from fouls. I have no problem with that.

Rios will never rematch Abril. He knows his goose is cooked a second time.

Julio Cesar Chavez also was able to take a good shot, and did many times, yet you don't hear him mumbling words. So your "hitting and not getting hit is the logical thing in boxing", doesn't work for everyone. You need a certain set of skills to pull it off. Just like you need certain attributes to be a ****er. And that, is what makes boxing so great. There isn't one clear advantage to anyone style because the person executing it, isn't always the same and doesn't execute like the next guy. Every guy is an individual and works to his strengths and weaknesses.

Ali was not the same fighter when he came back from the 3 1/2 year layoff - he was just hitting his prime when that happened. Ali had to learn to fight differently when he came back. How do you think the rope-a-dope came along? And if you had put Ali in with Frazier during his prime years, there wouldn't have been fights 2 & 3, plain & simple. Now, back to Foreman, when Ali beat him, Ali realized he could take a punch, and that coupled with the fact he knew he couldn't bounce around like he used to, abandoned that methodology (mind you he already had 2 grueling fights with Frazier & 2 with Ken Norton already) so he had to stay in the pocket more. Not to mention the cats he fought after Foreman, attributed to his steady decline from '74-78 (Norton & Frazier again, Earnie Shavers, etc. who ****** - no love taps there).

And Chavez ain't really start get knocked around until late in his career.

Richard Abril holds the whole fight, that's not boxing, I could understand you sticking and moving and turning, side stepping but not Holding like he dose. Abril fight's like a girl, like most people on here that support him.

Same can be said of Carlos Molina, but many support him too......

Is not Richard Abril's fault if Rios couldn't get to 135 without draining himself down, or if he didn't respect Abril's boxing ability. Contracts are made, and you get to read them all, and sign them if you AGREE to the conditions. If you didn't have a good night for boxing, your problem. Everyone who watched the Rios-Abril fight, knows that Abril won that fight. I know Rios won't give Abril a rematch because is too much risk, very very low reward for him. Abril EXPOSED Rios by limiting his inside game. That was it!
