Top level boxers drunk during a fight...

Is anyone aware of any fighters fighting drunk or buzzed? Supposedly Jake Lamotta has done this.

Anyone else? Are there rules against it? I mean of course its completely idiotic to do such a thing, I just wonder if there are fighters who have done it.

And I'm talking about at the top level of course. I'm sure there are unknown club fighters/bottom feeders who fight on like really short notice and don't give a crap.

I don't know about "drunk", but I do remember reading a while back that Oscar said it was very common for a fighter to take a couple of shots in the dressing room, to relax the nerves.

There's gotta be a better way to deal with this. A couple of shots might not be a lot but can it affect you negatively in some way or another?

It could if the fighter has a low tolerance for alcohol and if they have an empty stomach, which I assume they would. I guess also those couple of shots could make one have to piss.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ricky the 'itman 'Atton has fought with a few pints in him.

I wouldn't be surprised if fighters took Xanax or klonopin before a fight to relax some. I think i saw some documentary where JCC Sr took Xanax to sleep the night before so he might have taken them before the fight too just to relax

My trainer Mr. Byrd(Chris Byrd's pops) said this was common back in the day to relax the nerves. I recall Holyfield taking shots before the Tyson fight if i remember correctly.
