Here's an update from someone in the last thread. I'm sure he's staying there for a few months but I'm not sure if he permanently relocated.

Awesome, I think the first difference he's going to see is the difference in sparring in Mexico than here in the states. He's going to get great sparring in that gym too.

With the rich history in that gym, I have no doubt he will. I'm anxious to see what Nacho does with him. He's not a bad fighter, he just lacks good skill training.

I'm not just saying this because I'm Mexican but I think Nacho is the BEST trainer in the sport today and one of the ATG.

He learned from a master in Cullo Hernandez and has carried on that style and technicality.

I have seen Del Valle fight a few times and I think those technical improvements will help him greatly. Also, not that the kid isn't tough, but training Mexico with that elevation and the hard sparring that goes on there, I think he will gain some serious toughness.

          Great move on his part.

Some of you forget, boxing flows like an economy. Just when you have an abundance of champions from somewhere, they all get knocked off eventually and now you have an abundance else where. This will last for a few years before the eb and flow changes once again and now you are back to where you started with the fresh crop picking off the last set of champions. It's a never ending cycle that goes up and down.
I think Mexico and PR are the two highest with ups and downs more so than any other ethnicity. Let's not forget, what was it? Just 2-3 years ago when all the Mexican champs were getting dethroned and it looked bad on their part? Now they are making a comeback.

All the PR champs got dethroned and only one remains who should have lost his title. The up and comers are getting outgunned by veterans because greedy promoters are trying to find their next Felix Trinidad. Lucky for me I'm a boxing fan and not a fan of one fighter because of how much money they have or what country they live in.

I have to say the Puerto Rican boxing is in trouble, they are really getting replaced. I know Cotto has some program going on and he's starting to promote fights but right now it's not looking great. Not only that but the Amateur program is not very good. They need some new trainers over there. Cause they are not getting taught properly.

The Puerto Rico- Mexican rivarly has pretty much turned into the Mex-Argentina rivalry. Us Cubans are always going be relevant in the spor, but there is not enough to form a true rivalry.
I do not agree with this post at all. I actually think is a very dumb post. Cubans are relevant alright , they have their history and know their stuff. But Puerto Rico will never , never be irrelalevant in this sport. We might be in a bit of a slump. But we will bounce back. We always do. Too much history and passion. Boxing is huge over there. Our tradition is big and we love it too much.

Mexican boxing has evolved. It has improved. Puerto Rican boxing needs a change , we need better trainers. We don't have world class trainers. I've always said this , and not to sound like Puerto Ricans are tougher or more "macho" than any other men. But in P.R every man knows how to fight. You can even go on YouTube. And 9 times out of 10 even in street fights you see kids with a similar boxing stance and when you see them throw a punch you would think they had some type of training. I'm not kidding , and I'm not exaggerating at all. So I've always wondered , if that has something to do with the success. And if the lack of world class trainers has hurt us over the last years. You can't just teach kids the fundamentals and make them make weight. You gotta adjust in fights ,have a backup plan ,and a backup plan for that. If you are a really good trainer most of the time you don't need to use it. But you should have one.

I know some people probably won't agree but I always thought the first Cotto and Margarito fight , Cotto lost that fight because he was not well coached. Yes margarito did put a hurting on him , but with a bit less "dancing" and a bit more grabbing which is totally legal , Cotto would have won that fight. All the elite fighters fo it. Hopkins is one that knows all the tricks in the book and he takes advantage of every single one. Mayweather also. At the time of the stoppage Cotto was physically and mentally drained, not to mention he had eaten bombs for shots. And the guy in front of him wouldn't go down unless you hit him with a sledge hammer. If he had spend less time "dancing" , a bit more standing his ground and outpunching him , taking a few steps back , almost like Gambia fights, he would have been able to finish that fight on his feet and probably won it.

I mean I like him, but the dude doesn't even speak a lick of Spanish and can't even be classified a Mexican American. A lot of people don't know that he's actually half Native American half Mexican.
