Getting a proper title isn't gonna look bad. Whoever he fights, one of the first things great fighters do is get a title. If he has to fight a bum for it, so be it. He can focus on unifications (and vacancies) later on imo.

GBP are hellbent on getting him in with Pederson so i think that would be his most attractive option, I dont think anyone of the names would fight him even if he fights for the vacate WBC belt, So its best he goes after Pederson and get that name on his resume. It would a more attractive option and he would have eliminate Pederson from the top of 140 sweepstakes.

I think he should go for the WBC.... i'm tired of the WBC never giving the mando's their shot and now that it might be vacated, Matthysse can do what should have done when Ajose and him were the mandos... and that's fight for it.

I would rather he stay the mandatory for the WBC than fight for a vacate belt, The mando status puts a big strain on GBP to make the Garcia fight, If Lucas gets this belt through the vacate route then be rest assure that Garcia can do whatever he likes in the next 2 years without fighting Lucas, This would be like golovkin holding his belt but none of the names are attracted to him, If GGG was a mandatory then all the top names can only avoid him for so long before they either had to vacate or fight him.

Depends... If the WBC wants to put Matthysse in there vs some b.s. opponent I'd rather him fight PEDerson. It'll still be for a title and much bigger name.

Matthysse will fight Peterson for the IBF. So I guess he forfeits his WBC ranking since the WBC doesn't allow unifications.

Garcia is best junior welt in world right now and I for one love watching him work. He has so many awesome fights ahead too vs very good challengers.Matthyse vs Gracia could be mega fight if done right.That is assuming Matthyse picks up a belt and Garcia gets by durable and crafty Judah. Nah, Abril has been the interim champ since Rios and he's fighting for the full title this weekend.
