Exposed Prospects: Who was the worst - Mitchell, Price, Kirkland, Jacobs, Bute?

It's all in the title.. What was the worst case of a prospect being exposed in recent years?

    Seth Mitchell
    James Kirkland
    David Price
    Danny Jacobs
    Lucien Bute

Bute isn't really a prospect but I added him anyway since he was viewed as an elite SMW who could contend with the top SMWs in the Super Six.

Easily Bute. All of those guys you listed were hyped up however none like Bute, very very little people knew of those fighters compared to him, especially the American prospects.

There were talks of Bute being able to fill out an entire soccer stadium with a fight against Ward. People even had him ranked ahead of Ward after the Froch fight, ahead of Kessler, Abraham, Froch, pretty much everybody. It was pretty ridiculous, a guy who had a win over Glen Johnson was thought to be the best.

Disagree on Bute. The Froch fight was basically 50/50 going in with a slight edge going to Froch because it was in England. And he lost to a P4P fighter in Froch, after all.

Price lost to old, out of shape, no chance of winning Titty Thompson FFS with the softest KO punch that I can recall. I honestly thought Price had taken a dive or something.

Anyone who says Bute is talking out of their arse tbh.

He lost to Carl Froch, that's it. He wasn't sparked in 1 by Darnell Boone or made to look out of his depth, he just couldn't handle the Cobra's pressure (not many do) and crumpled half-way through the fight.

Going into that fight, people thought Bute had a good chance of winning (I included) but Froch never let him box at range and pressured him from the off. But obviously in hindsight people dismiss pre-fight predictions and thoughts, 'it was always going to play out like that'.

He's not a prospect either and nor was he exposed. Kirkland isn't a prospect, that was a big shock though. Jacobs was overcoming personal tragedy when he fought Pirog.

Price & Mitchell being the only 'prospects' on there, honestly more shocked with Mitchell being sparked by Banks than Thompson stopping Price. Price had shown chin issues in the amateurs, was rocked in his debut and it was only a matter of time until it got checked. Prior to fighting Mitchell, Banks had fought Firtha and just came out of nowhere with the win.

Lulz Bute made something like 10 title defenses with wins over Bika, Johnson Andrade, Zuniga, Berrio, Mcgee etc.

Jacobs was exposed he wasnt as good as people were saying he was but then again he had illness and had family issues out of the ring so who knows where he would be right now without those things
