Thompson TKO 2 Price = McCall TKO 2 Lewis

I was quite surprised last night, I had heard about him being chinny as an amateur, but hadn't seen it myself so I didn't know how bad it was.
I think he'll come back, but he'll never be as successful as Lewis or Wladimir obviously. His chin definitely looks worse, and they were/are better fighters than Price will ever be.
But like I said, I think he will come back and be a contender when Wlad retires. He can be KO'd everytime he faces a live opponent though.Comment

no....
McCall and Lewis were both 30 at the time.
Lewis was the WBC champ and had beaten way tougher opponents than McCall such as Razor Ruddock, Tony Tucker, Frank Bruno.
This loss was way worse for many reasons.
1.) Thompson is 41: Not that big of a deal, as there are fighters in their 40's who can compete but nonetheless he was old.
2.) Thompson was coming off a devastating knockout loss.
3.) Thompson came into the fight nearly 20 lbs overweight and looked terribly out of shape.
4.) He had one foot out the door, and was thinking about retiring if he lost the fight.
5.) This was Price's first real step up, which also makes the loss even more devastating, because it feeds into critics who think he has been protected.
6.) Of course Thompson was a massive 11-1 underdog.
It really doesn't get much worse than this, it was a horrible loss and I don't think he'll ever recover.
This is a lesson to all the HW's are ducking big competition. At least if Price lost to Fury or Klitschko it would not be as bad.Comment

Originally posted by Freedom. But Thompson is a normal healthy man, not a crazy crackhead like McCall.
Losing to a much smaller drug addict who has many defeats on his record like Oliver is worse than losing to a very good boxer like Tony Thompson who has only ever really lost to one fighter (an ATG).
No matter how you look at it, it looks really bad on Price. Thompson was supposed to go there last 3 rounds, take a knee and collect a pay check. oops....
With Lewis there were no question marks as to whether he would recover or not cause he had already been the champion and faced tougher guys than McCall.Comment
