In an exciting co-feature, Raul Martinez knocked down Andres Ledesma three times en route to an eighth-round TKO. The doubleheader, which took place at Cicero Stadium in Cicero, Illinois. "I felt my opponent was strong and well trained," said Julio (26-0, 23 KOs). "So I waited him out. As I learned Kamya's strengths, I had to think on my feet and find a plan. I got the perfect knockout."

Julio broke Kamya's jaw!

Yet again, undefeated welterweight sensation Joel Julio (26-0, 23 KO’s) has stunned boxing insiders. Each time the Colombian exits the ring following a victory, estimations of his potential increase exponentially. Friday’s one-sided demolition of Robert Kamya has raised those expectations considerably. Just one day removed from his 21st birthday, Julio twice dropped Kamya and rocked him repeatedly before a crushing left hook sent Kamya face first to the canvas for the third and final time of the bout. The referee immediately waved a halt to the bout at the 1:32 mark of the round (TKO 3). Kamya remained on the canvas for approximately five minutes after the final knockdown, and was then taken to the hospital to repair a broken jaw and undergo a series of head tests. He passed those exams and was released Saturday evening. (Julio’s ability to shatter Kamya’s jaw is even more impressive when one recognizes that both fighters were forced to wear 10 oz gloves because the contract weight for the bout was over 150 lbs). Julio is expected to return to the ring on Feb 25 on the undercard of the Fernando Vargas-Shane Mosley pay-per-view showdown at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, NV.
