Bernd Boente, the manager of WBO/WBA/IBO/IBF heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (59-3, 50 KOs), spoke to BoxingScene.com about the ongoing dispute to resolve the outstanding issues connected to the mandatory fight against WBA "regular" heavyweight beltholder Alexander Povetkin (25-0, 17 KOs).

A few weeks ago, the World Boxing Association issued an order which granted Wladimir's request to have a voluntary defense. According to the order, Wladimir was granted permission to defend his "super title" prior to facing Povetkin - but their respective camps were given a deadline of February 28 to reach an agreement for their mandatory fight. It is painfully obvious that Povetkin does not want to fight anybody good at HW.He has certain "requirements" for his opponents.He will continue fighting bums while the HW scene around him blows up and he is stripped or KO'd.Either way,he has been passed by hungry HW's.

They are right though. Wlad is the one who pulls in all the fans. Why should Povetkin who Saureland has barely promoted get even 25%?

He's right. Outside boxing fans, no one in Europe -- outside the UK -- really knows about Floyd Mayweather. Even less know about Canelo.

The average man wouldn't be able to pick Mayweather from a line of Kevin Durant, Ray Lewis and Dwyane Wade. I would dare say Andre Ward is more famous in Europe than Floyd due to the Super Six and his wipeouts of a Brit, Dane and German-based fighter.

With that said, they do broadcast Mayweather's fights in Denmark on free tv, which the sports networks cop for a penny on the dollar. He's very well known in the UK, though.

Povetkin and his people will want to make sure he get's the biggest paycheck possible if he faces Wlad, it's understandable. This sort of business takes time, they are just twisting things and buying time. Bad for the fans though..

What are you like 12 years old? The fact is Mayweather is as popular in here as Klitschkos are in USA. And in Europe Klits are most known boxers but in USA they're incognito. They're are boring for you but so is Floyd for us. And Canelo? Most Europeans would ask "what is this some italian dish?". Also worldwide most interest in last years was in Klitschko - Haye fight I believe not any of Floyd fights. You may be suprise but US is not the center of the world.
