The HBO boxing budget was $100m in 99 and they keep slashing away, it wasn't even $40m last year, on the other hand SHO has been pumping more money to their boxing program and stacking cards. HBO had it coming for being cheap fucks and neglecting the sport that put the network on the map.

Agreed. Cant WAIT to hear Jim Gray interview Floyd! I also think Paulie is a better analyst and speaks better than RJJ. However i do like Jim Lampley over the MMA dude on showtime. Kinda sucks he leaves now that Larry Merchant is gone. Ah well..

I will say this though, it might not be SO bad for HBO. I mean, they do have a good brand, and now that Mayweather has signed a contract with the competition, they can stop catering to Al Haymon, unless he is somehow holding Adrien Broner over their heads. Same to be said for Showtime. They have Floyd in a contract, so if what a lot of the rumors say is true about everyone catering to Haymon because they want Floyd, nobody has a reason to do that anymore.

Paulie is actually a good commentator. Tarver was great too. Seems they ditched him after steroid accusations. Tarver was my favorite boxer/commentator.

Mark "Too Sharp" Johnson was EXCELLENT on showtime! Man, i wish they wouldve kept him instead of Malignaggi. And that is saying a lot cuz Paulie is great too!

Hopefully this causes HBO to take stock of the malaise they have been in for a long time. Frankly, I think Showtime deserve to cover big fights (though they themselves aren't as consistently great as they were under Hershman, ironically enough), I'm sick of Kellerman. And Lampley, sadly, is close to shot.

simple. GBP keeps broner at HBO and they make him their guy. GBP takes canelo to showtime and they make him their guy. GBP has both major networks covered.

I think if Mayweather was younger, they would have offered him more. He probably only has a few fights left. It will be interesting to see if HBO made a good decision or not. Only time will tell.

HBO played themselves real good after firing Greenberg, and now they going to have lay in the bed they made. I mean They hoed themselves out to Top Rank, and Big Rich already let it be known how he felt about the situation and he has connect to all the major attractions.

The Biggest winner in this whole thing is Adrian Broner, because Lampley and HBO is going to have to stay on they knees like they did for Pacquiao, if they want to keep the next big thing associated with that network.

I think HBO made a good decision regardless. They can get back to making great boxing cards and fights. They have significantly more subscribers than showtime so they will still generate about the same number off ppv sales with chavez/martinez and manny/jmm combined in 2013 as they did with floyd/cotto.
