Comments Thread For: Canelo's Trainer Expects a Very Tough Task With Trout

Chepo Reynoso, trainer of WBC 154-pound champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (41-0-1, 30KOs), expects a very tough task when his boxer steps in the ring with WBA king Austin Trout (26-0, 14KOs). Last week Canelo revealed that he expects to face Trout on May 4th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Floyd Mayweather Jr. will headline the show, likely in a mandatory fight against Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero.

Trout"took" the title from Rigo? more like a gimme...Saul has tougher sparring partners than his bros fights...still THE big advantage 4 Canelo, is Trout can't punch hard...Alvarez will walk thru him if he doesn't get flustered early, as he has vs others, ie: L. Ndou...Trout's trainner, Louie Burke will have 2 come up w/a plan, more than what he's done in the past, by just turning the guy & moving off him...should b interesting bout early...Alvarez brings more than a worn out Cotto..

I got Trout taking this one, but shouts out to Canelo for taking a real step up in comp.

Canelo never been hit by a legit prime JMW so you can't say Trout has no power. Trout uses his range well and has good stamina. He will counter Canelo from the outside all night.

Another thing, Canelo hasn't faced anyone REMOTELY close to Trout's caliber or style. He might be in shock once he gets in that ring.

I like Canelo to win by late stoppage. Can't wait.

Canelo does deserve credit for finally stepping up.

This won't be easy for him and Golden Boy is taking a big risk by putting him in with such a tricky left hander with a Floyd Mayweather fight on the horizon.

would be a big step up from canelo's usual undersized and overmatched opponents...
