all u people who say Tyson is nothing but a rapist and deserves to burn in hell needs to look beyond Tyson's mistakes and look at the type of person he is now

He didn't fight Holyfield or Tyson until they were WAAAAY past their best, however. Lewis often showed up out of shape, and got embarrassed throughout some of his fights as champion. He won several just by being huge and landing a single punch. He should have been ashamed of how he handled himself most of his time as champ.

He didn't really contain him. He caught Mike with only 11 months of activity against 4 tomato cans following a 4.5 year hiatus. People forgave Ali for losing after his 3.5 year hiatus, and he spent his "warm up" return fighting good fighters. He got into real game shape before fighting Frazier and then got pummeled. Mike fought absolute nobodies, won an alphabet title, and then got told by his corner that Holyfield was washed up. He got told this would be an easy, big name fight to his cred, and so he went in like he did against Douglas. He had no game plan, he had no respect for his opponent, and his corner offered him no help between rounds.

If this were 1987 Mike, and Rooney in his corner, he topples Holyfield inside of 5. The evidence is in the few rounds Mike gave a **** in his two meetings with Evander, but that's another, long-winded, in-depth analysis I've delivered in the History threads.

At any rate, it's good to see Mike happy. I just want to see Evander go out with some of his brain still in tact.

            WTF?!!?!

OK, he showed up out of shape against Rahman, but 'often'? Like... name any other fight he was grossly out of shape for? Vitali Klitshcko? He still opened a can of whoop ass on the guy's face and won the fight.

Should be ashamed of how he handled himself? You should be ashamed for irrational hating.

Why all the Lewis hate... bitter yanks?

If you asked a boxing fan in the 90's "Which fighter will be likely to go broke - Tyson or Holyfield?", the unanimous answer would have been Tyson because of the way he lived his life in the 90's. It's funny though how 20 years later, the opposite's happened...

Tyson is a different guy now and good for him, but as a fan of the sport that bs stunt he pulled in the second Holyfield fight forever changed the sport IMHO.
I believe it was one of the main factors in boxing going from a major sport, on the NFL or NBA level, to the fringe sport it is today.
People were so disgusted by what happened in that fight and turned off by promoter hijinks that it caused people to tune it out.
After that fight, outside of the De La Hoya type fights, boxing was relegated to the back pages and only mentioned a few times a year on the national level.
Oh well, he did have a great cameo in "The Hangover" at least....

Here is an old AP story on the lawsuit:

                    Lennox Lewis Sues Mike Tyson

Heavyweight boxing champion LENNOX LEWIS has reportedly filed a staggering
$385 million (GBP256 million) lawsuit against MIKE TYSON and promoter DON
                    KING.

The suit claims that King strong-armed Tyson into backing out of a
possible heavyweight title re-match with Lewis.

Allegations include charges that King threatened the life of Tyson's
friend and adviser, and bribed a woman to keep Tyson from signing the proposed
                    deal.

Last summer (02) British pugilist Lewis defeated Tyson in a title match in
                    Memphis, Tennessee.
