Prefacing an excuse with "I'm not making excuses" does not let you off the hook

I'm sick of this bull****. I mean, fighters do it all the time, most noticably after the Castillo-Corrales 2 fight.

Corrales: "I'm not going to say that he didn't make an effort to make weight for the last week leading up to the fight while I struggled and had to stop doing my thing to make weight while he was ignoring it. I'm not going to say that. That's between me and God."

Actually, you just said it. It's out there. You used it as an excuse. Period.

    Then tonight:

Judah: "I'm not going to make excuses but Don King had me running around the city all week and I'm not making excuses but I really didnt have time to do my thing."

Again, no, you just made an excuse. You said it.
