Boardwalk Hall, Atlantic City - WBC lightweight champion Adrien “The Problem” Broner (25-0, 21 KOs) made the first defense of his title with a dominating fifth round technical knockout of Gavin Rees (37-1-1, 19 KOs), a former WBA 140-pound champion. Broner punished Rees and put him down in the fourth, and then the fifth, which prompted his trainer Gary Lockett to throw in the towel.

He needs to tighten up his defense. But other than that a fine performance by Broner.

I give credit to Rees, I feel like he turned in the perfect fight for what he was capable of. Odds were 80-1...

Broner didn't take him seriously at any point, I don't think Broner would let someone hit him that much if he was even slightly concerned about their power. I also think he didn't expect Rees to be as live as he was, Rees won first 2 rounds for sure. Basically Broner let Rees dictate the pace and he still destroyed him.

Obviously ducked Vasquez a great champion at 135 but he doesnt want to move up to 140 yet either. Also getting frustrated by a smaller man with little power. You guys still think Hes the future of boxing?
