Very very nice fight to begin 2006 with. On top of that it was for the Undisputed Championship. No bickering about money. No stripping of titles. No controversy. Just the two best in the division, both with belts, giving it their all. Exciting fight. Back and forth action. Ending with a KO.
For those getting on the ref again...it is really a no win argument. Until you are a ref yourself and have two championship fighters fighting, we cannot really determine what we would do. First we complain that fights are stopped too early. Then complain fights are stopped too late.
When you have fighters of this calibur fighting, and the one taking punishment is always coming back with punches of his own...you usually give him the benefit and let things go a bit longer...
Refs have to make split second decisions or sometimes wait things out because there is a balance of giving a fighter his chance that he has worked so hard for to come back in a fight, but also figuring out when to stop it...
remember that referees do NOT have the SAME view that we TV watchers do...so they see things we don't and we see things they don't...
either way...great fight from both men...
Really a typical Bell fight where he seems slow and buzzed early, only to settle into himself late and come from behind...I think his mental attitude, yogo, meditation, etc helps him a lot...he took everything Mormeck had, and dished out more...he had the suspect chin, but took it...Mormeck has the granite chin, and faltered...though I think it was more of an Ali/Foreman like falter where he was also tired on top of taking Bell's big rights...
