Broner was offered the part. If he turns that down he's a fool and his fame will ever be stuck in limbo. An appearance on a Mayweather undercard will give his image a huge boost.

i think thats one of the reasons rees was chosen (as a tune up for may 4th)
Who's he going to fight on May 4th then if Rees is just a "tune up", an even worse fighter?

I'd like to see Mares-Ponce on the May 4th card, but probably won't happen. I doubt Golden Boy pays Broner to be on a card with all those other fighters, too much money in my opinion. Plus I can't see Broner actually being the 3rd tier fighter on a card, he wants to headline HBO events.

I doubt it. Unless he fights a bum.

There's not enough money to have Mayweather, Guerrero, Canelo, Trout, Broner and a good opponent.

Rees is at least Top 10. But the only guys for Broner at 135 are Bogere/Abril, Burns/Vazquez, and possibly Gamboa eventually. I don't see the Abril/Bogere or Vazquez/Burns winners fighting that soon. Maybe the end of May or in June though. i doubt Golden Boy puts Broner on the May 4th card.

They should put Figueroa against a solid LW on the under-card if they scrap Broner.

As for the topic, I think Abril/Bogere could make the date. Abril has been suffering recently from inactivity, so I can't imagine him turning it down if presented. Who is really gonna turn down being on a Mayweather under-card?

I don't see why not. They have big pockets these people. Just because they're too cheap to do this sort of thing regularly doesn't mean they can't afford it on a one off.

Don't forget about Leo Santa Cruz vs. Chemito Moreno too imo.

                  Most likely Verne Troyer

They've already met to discuss the fight:

Didn't Santa Cruz announce that he was moving to 122??

Burns won't do it anyway. The reason he turned down the fight was because there was way more money in it for him if he brings the WBO and IBF belts to the table.

Not only that, if he beats Vazquez that means the WBC, WBO, IBF, Ring, and Lineal titles are on the line in a fight with Broner.
